Breast Lift

A breast lift, also called mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgery that lifts the breasts and nipples by tightening breast tissue, removing extra skin, and creating a more supportive structure. This procedure corrects breast ptosis, sagging, and other issues like downward-pointing nipples, stretched skin, asymmetrical breasts, and enlarged areolas.

What Does a Breast Augmentation procedure involve?

Sagging or drooping breasts happen when breast tissue loses its stretchiness. This can occur due to different reasons, including:

  • Weight fluctuation
  • Gravity
  • Genetics
  • Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
  • The natural aging process

What Does a Breast Lift Procedure Involve?

This procedure usually takes two to three hours and is usually performed with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia, either in a hospital or an outpatient center.

There are four techniques for lifting the breasts, each with different incision patterns and levels of correction. These include Crescent Lift, which is for mild sagging, Benelli Lift, Vertical Lift, and Full Lift for more severe sagging. The technique chosen depends on your goals, breast composition and medical evaluation, and determines where the incisions will be made.

During the procedure, your plastic surgeon may reshape the breast tissue using deep sutures. They remove excess skin and reposition the nipples higher to adapt to your aesthetic preferences. Thus, this process effectively lifts and reshapes the breasts to achieve the desired results.

Risk

Has the same risks as any other major surgery-bleeding, infection, and adverse reaction to anesthesia. Other possible risks include:

/ Bruising
/ Changes in nipple or breast sensation
/ Difficulty breastfeeding

Recovery

After your breast lift, a drain might be used to get rid of extra fluids. Your boobs will be wrapped in gauze and a special bra. It’s totally normal to have swelling and bruising after surgery, but you can handle it with pain meds. Plus, you’ll probably get antibiotics to stop any infections.

In the days or weeks following surgery, your boobs might feel a bit tender. Your doc might suggest wearing a compression bra for some extra support. Taking a week off work to chill and rest is a good call, and you should go easy on activities for two to four weeks to heal up right.

Even though you’ll notice changes right away, it’ll take some time for all the swelling to go away. And those scars from the cuts? They’ll fade over time.

Who is a Good Candidate for Breast Lift Surgery?

  • You are physically healthy
  • You have realistic expectations
  • You are self-conscious about your breasts
  • You wish to restore a more youthful & aesthetic appearance to your breasts
  • You don’t smoke

Results

The results of breast lift surgery will be long-lived. Your newly lifted and contoured breasts will heighten your self-image, boost your self-esteem, and improve your quality of life.
